Abstract:
“A recent UNESCO Guidance Note on climate action for living heritage has proposed ‘a comprehensive, rights-based and people-centred approach to climate action for living heritage’. The Guidance Note was formally considered and noted at 19.COM in Asuncion, Paraguay, and accompanied by more open discussion at a side event on ‘Exploring connections – Climate action for living heritage’. This talk reviews some of the key messages and findings emerging from the Guidance Note and the consultations and expert meetings that contributed to its drafting. A key question for the ICH NGO Forum is whether the Guidance Note provides a useful and practical platform for action by stakeholders of the 2003 Convention, and this talk will aim to open up space for further conversation on this issue.”
